Escape to a place where you can truly relax, where the pace is dictated by nature, and life is shaped by the weather and the tides. No stress. No traffic jams. Step back in time to discover few roads, miles of empty sandy beaches, welcoming locals and an array of new experiences.
Scilly has an intimate atmosphere. It is as if you've stumbled upon an idyllic film set from a bygone era. From A-list celebrities to 30-year regulars, visitors come to Scilly for the unique, timeless lifestyle and amazing environment. Go for a casual walk on an empty, pristine white beach, rent a cottage with a private beach, or dine locally on island-grown produce and traditional family recipes.
Making memories is a key pastime on Scilly. You may find yourself next to a couple at breakfast who have been coming here, every summer, for the past 15 years. The lady next to you at the bank may have been here 20 years ago when she was a child and is now bringing her children to the idyllic holiday destination of her youth. On Islands where many businesses have been in families for generations, tour guides have been honing their skills over decades, and craftspeople have adapted their wares over many years, memories are made to last.
Scilly allows visitors to tune in to the rhythms of nature, despite the 21st-century approach that underpins much of what we do. We still do a great deal of business using cash ... and some cafés offer internet Wi-Fi. Many local craft and food producers use honesty boxes when selling their wares ... and lots of our businesses are on the leading-edge of green and environmental practices. You may find the best of modern technology in your room when you check in ... and then discover that the TIC uses a chocolate tin for boat ticket sales!
We take pride in our local produce on Scilly. You can buy Scillonian beef or lobster to sizzle on the barbeque, take home some island beer and wine, savour local treats such as hand-made fudge, chocolate and ice-cream, or stop at one of the many farm stalls for rocket and raspberries, free range eggs, or freshly-picked fruit and vegetables.
The Isles of Scilly offer you your own, special holiday experience. Arriving on the quay of an off-island, you may well wonder where the (single, unnamed) road leads. There are no bright, intrusive signs. There are no sophisticated thoroughfares. There are no loud and noisy theme parks or tourist 'attractions'. But you will find everything you could wish for ... miles of stunning beaches ... wonderful places to eat ... unusual local arts, crafts, and produce ... marine adventures from diving to kayaking to glass-bottomed boating ... amazing walking trails and wildlife areas ... family-friendly locals who welcome you like one of their own.

"There are fresh delights around every corner: a deserted cove; a windy headland; a hedgerow speckled with wild flowers; a necklace of other islands shimmering in the distance"
The Telegraph, Max Davidson
