The second largest Island in the group with an amazing variety of scenery that is basically in three parts. In the North, the landscape is wild and barren with wind-blasted heathland and rugged granite outcrops. The central section of Tresco is made up of green fields, cottages and farmland leading down through an avenue of dense trees to the wonderful, world famous Abbey Garden to the Southern side with its sand dunes and shell strewn beaches.

The Abbey Garden has a magnificent collection of sub-tropical and exotic plants that grow with a luxuriance unknown elsewhere in the United Kingdom. Here you can see tree ferns from New Zealand, proteas and aloes from South Africa, acacias and eucalyptus from Australia, all thriving in the warm air and rich ground of Tresco.

Tresco is not just about lush vegetation and white beaches however, and has a wide range of accommodation including two high quality hotels (one of which is the local inn), self-catering cottages and time share, but no guest houses or camp sites. There is also a general store and sub post office. Much more information on the Island can be obtained at www.tresco.co.uk.
