Get your walking boots on and check out the list of exciting walking adventures that feature in this year’s Walk Scilly extravaganza!

Saturday 12th April:

Welcome to Walk Scilly - St Mary's - led by local columnist Martin Hesp (Western Morning News Editor at Large); starts 2pm from the Visitor Information Point on Porthcressa Bank. Approx 2 hours.

Opening Night Party - St Mary's - meet the guides and mingle with fellow walkers at St Mary's Hall Hotel.

Sunday 13th April:

A Tour Around the Garrison - St Mary's - Curator of the Isles of Scilly Museum, Amanda Martin, will guide you around the Garrison; starts 10am from the Visitor Information Point on Porthcressa Bank. Approx 2.5 hours.

St Martin's Top to Toe - Local fisherman and farmer Keith Low shows you around his island home. All day walk including a break for lunch. Boat leaves St Mary's at 10.15am for a 10.45am start at Lower Town Quay, St Martin's. Approx 5.5 hours.

Overhead and Underfoot - A look at what creatures live in Scilly - Bryher - Join Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust Ranger, Darren Hart, wildlife spotting on Bryher's grasslands and heathland. Boat leaves St Mary's at 1.30pm for a 1.50pm start at Church Quay, Bryher. Approx 3 hours.

Monday 14th April:

Flower Farming in the Isles of Scilly - St Mary's - a guided walk around a traditional Scillonian working flower farm with mother and son, Penny and Matthew Rogers; starts 10am at Lunnon Farm. Approx 2 hours.

St Agnes & Gugh 'Top to Toe' - this all day walk around St Agnes and Gugh with Chas Wood will stop for lunch at the Turk's Head and might even pop in to Troytown Farm for an ice cream! Boat leaves St Mary's for St Agnes at 10.15am for a 10.45am start from the Turk's Head. Approx 6 hours.

Braves Tales - Tresco - professional storyteller Will Coleman takes you on an adventure around Tresco. Boat leaves St Mary's at 2.00pm for a 2.20pm start at New Grimsby Quay. Approx 2.5 hours.

Or try 'Snorkelling with Seals' with Diver Anna from St Martin's Dive School today! Pick up from St Mary's at 8.45am. No previous experience necessary and all equipment provided.

This evening, the Isles of Scilly Museum will be opening from 5-7pm, especially for Walk Scilly participants, with a discounted entry. Or take in a slideshow where local expert Tim Allsop will introduce you to the delights of Scilly's underwater world  - 5pm at St Martin's Island Hall. There is also a Supper Trip to St Martin's, boat departing St Mary's at 6pm and returning at approximately 9pm; or join a Star Walk on St Mary's with island astronomer, Steve Sims - meet him at the Town Hall at 8.30pm. Approx 1 hour.

Tuesday 15th April:

A Tale of Two Heathlands: from Peninnis to Salakee Down - St Mary's - Naturalist and environmental consultant Bob Dawson introduces you to these two special island heaths; starts 9.30am from the Visitor Information Point on Porthcressa Bank. Approx 3 hours.

St Mary's Coastal Run - St Mary's - for the more energetic! Bryony and Nick Lishman of Adventure Scilly are your guides on this trail run; starts 10am from Mincarlo Guest House (opposite the Dairy). Approx 2.5 hours.

A Mediterranean Stroll - Tresco - be shown around the world famous Abbey Garden by the Curator, Mike Nelhams and his team of gardeners. Boat leaves St Mary's at 9.45am for a 10.45am start from the Abbey Garden Entrance. Approx 2 hours.

Brave Tales - St Agnes - professional storyteller Will Coleman takes you on an adventure around St Agnes. Boat leaves St Mary's at 2.00pm for a 2.15pm start from the Turk's Head. Approx 2.5 hours.

Ready, Steady, Forage - Bryher - go foraging with Rachel Lambert, then enjoy a Chef's demonstration courtesy of Hell Bay Hotel. Boat leaves St Mary's at 1.30pm for a 1.50pm start at Anneka's Quay, Bryher. Approx 3 hours.

This evening enjoy a 'Scilly Through the Ages' slideshow with archaeologist Katharine Sawyer in the Methodist Hall on St Mary's at 8.15pm; or take an evening Supper Trip to Bryher - boats depart St Mary's at 6pm, returning at approximately 9pm.

Wednesday 16th April:

Ready, Steady, Forage - St Mary's - go foraging with Rachel Lambert, finding different wild foods to those found yesterday on Bryher, then take your bounty to local chef Euan Rodger at Tanglewood Kitchen and watch him create a dish fit for a king! Starts 10am from the Visitor Information Point on Porthcressa Bank. Approx 3 hours.

Tresco 'Top to Toe' - Alasdair Moore, editor of the Tresco Times, takes you for a stroll around Tresco. All day walk including a break for lunch at the New Inn. Boat leaves St Mary's at 10am for a 10.10am start at Carn Near, Tresco. Approx 6 hours.

A Seabird Walk - St Martin's - St Martin's born and bred Viv Jackson leads this seabird tour around his island home. Boat leaves St Mary's at 1.30pm for a 1.50pm start from Lower Town Quay, St Martin's. Approx 3 hours.

Or for something a bit different, take a Wildlife Safari with Darren Mason from the Seabird Recovery Project on the Spirit of St Agnes. Boat departs St Agnes at 1.30pm for a 1.5 hour trip.

This evening, why not join in with the Folk Scilly Welcome Session at 8pm in the Bishop and Wolf - just bring your best singing voice!

Thursday 17th April:

St Martin's - Exploring a Farmed Landscape - local farmer and joint owner of Scilly Flowers, Zoe Julian, takes you on a farm tour, a walk out to the Day Mark, down to Par beach and back to Higher Town, showing you how farming has shaped the local landscape. Boat leaves St Mary's at 10.15am for a 10.45am start from Lower Town Quay, St Martins. Approx 2.75 hours.

St Mary's 'Top to Toe' - Chas Wood shows you the very best of what St Mary's has to offer. All day walk including a break for lunch at Carn Vean and a break for refreshments at Juliet's Garden Restaurant; starts at 10am from Holgates Green. Approx 6-6.5 hours.

An Island Restoration Experience - Saving Scilly's Seabirds, St Agnes - Bob Dawson will tell you all about the Isles of Scilly Seabird Recovery Project and take you across to the island of Gugh to see some of the seabirds that the Seabird Recovery Project is helping to support. Boat leaves St Mary's at 2pm for a 2.15pm start from the Turk's Head. Approx 2.5 hours.

Don't forget to visit the Isles of Scilly Local Produce Market, taking place today in the Town Hall on St Mary's between 10am and 3pm.

This evening, Folk Scilly presents 'Dalla', a popular Cornish band. See them in the Methodist Chapel on St Mary's at 8pm. Or visit St Agnes on a Supper Trip - boats depart St Mary's at 6pm, returning at approximately 9pm.

Friday 18th April:

History of Samson - Archaeololgist Katharine Sawyer takes you exploring the prehistoric and post-medieval sites on Samson. One of the National Trust's Top 10 Great British Walks in 2013. Boat leaves St Mary's at 10.15am for a 10.45am start from the landing point on Samson. Approx 3 hours. NB there are no facilities on Samson.

Bryher 'Top to Toe' - join Bryher islander Chris Potterton on a walk around the entire island. All day walk with a break for lunch at Hell Bay Hotel. Boat leaves St Mary's at 10am for a 10.20am start from Anneka's Quay, Bryher. Approx 6 hours.

An Island Restoration Experience - Saving Scilly's Seabirds, St Mary's - walk along the St Mary's coast to Peninnis, looking for seabirds in flight with Jaclyn Pearson. Includes a break for tea at Old Town Cafe. Starts 2pm from the Visitor Information Point on Porthcressa Bank. Approx 2.5 hours.

This evening you can either take a Supper Trip to Tresco - boat departs St Mary's at 6pm, returning at approximately 9pm; or see out the end of Walk Scilly with a 'Festival Barn Dance' hosted by Folk Scilly in the Town Hall on St Mary's, starting at 8pm.
